Deployed first smart grid chips in Lake Placid, New York

Our first-generation meter adapters were installed in Lake Placid, New York to help the municipal utility gain new visibility into their system. We also established our grid edge advisory board with executives from utility companies and leaders in clean energy and electric transportation.

Partnered with NVIDIA to develop a software-defined smart grid chip

We found that existing technology and business models were insufficient to fully capture the value of the grid-edge, so we partnered with NVIDIA - the world leader in accelerated computing and AI - to build our own software-defined grid-edge solution.

Developed first applications for new meter company software platforms

We were among the first companies to develop software applications for smart meter platforms, offering our voltage optimization as an on-meter solution.

Integrated smart meter data to drive additional value from voltage optimization

We realized there was significantly untapped potential at the edge of the grid and began using day-old smart meter data to deliver additional energy savings. The 4% energy savings we achieved using smart meter data was roughly double even the most aggressive annual state energy efficiency mandates across the U.S.

Real-time optimization software deployed at scale with American Electric Power and National Grid

We doubled the performance of other optimization solutions and delivered our customers, on average, 3 percent energy savings, 4 percent demand reduction, 25 percent improvement in asset health, and 50 percent increase in solar hosting capacity.
