National Grid Extends Utilidata Deployment in New York Service Area
Best-In-Class VVO Technology Will Deliver Exceptional Energy Savings to Additional Customers
Providence, RI – July 23, 2019 – Utilidata®, Inc, the industry leader in energy optimization software extending from the substation to the grid edge, today announced that National Grid is further extending its deployment with the company, adding Utilidata’s real-time Volt/VAR Optimization (VVO) solution, AdaptiVolt™, to 35 additional circuits in New York. This expanded partnership is the result of over six years of successful results, which has led to an average of 3% energy savings for the utility and its customers.
AdaptiVolt™ enables energy efficiency, savings, and grid resiliency by using real-time information to precisely control distribution delivery voltages. National Grid’s New York deployment of AdaptiVolt™ began in 2017 within the Clifton Park service area, which followed initial projects in Rhode Island. The technology’s successful outcomes, including substantial energy savings and gains in efficiency, has resulted in further expansion into National Grid’s Massachusetts service area.
“Utilidata has demonstrated the ability to deliver energy savings and we intend to extend the same benefits across our New York customer base,” said Carlos Nouel, Vice President of Grid Modernization at National Grid. “The results we’ve seen from AdaptiVolt™ VVO have been consistently strong over the years, delivering meaningful benefits to National Grid and our customers.”
National Grid is working closely with the company on its grid modernization efforts. In addition to the expanded VVO deployment, this agreement extends the virtual power flow pilot taking place in Rhode Island.
“We are very proud of National Grid’s results, and we’re eager to broaden their successful grid modernization efforts across New York,” said Josh Brumberger, CEO of Utilidata. “Our long relationship has resulted in profound energy savings, enhanced customer experiences, and a more reliable, efficient electric grid. National Grid understands the importance of introducing both new and proven technologies to improve grid performance.”
Utilidata’s AdaptiVolt™ technology is used by utilities across the United States. To learn more about Utilidata’s solutions and the virtual power flow model, visit www.utilidata.com.
